What producers, crews and studio owners ask us before a shoot in Morocco: booking, prices, deposit, delivery, crew, studios and permits. Something missing? Ask us.

01

Booking and quotes

01What is Gear House?

Gear House is a platform for shooting in Morocco: you book film crew, camera, lens and lighting gear, and studios in one request, and get one confirmed quote. The gear comes from our own stock and from partner rental houses and owners across Morocco. Whoever supplies it, your contract is with Gear House: one contact, one invoice, one deposit. We cover shoots anywhere in Morocco: pickup at our office in Casablanca, or delivery across the country.

02How do I book gear, crew or a studio?

Add what you need to your gear list (no account needed), choose your dates and pickup or delivery, describe the shoot and send the request. You get a reference number and a pre-written WhatsApp message to send us. You can also upload your own gear list (PDF, Excel, Word or a photo) on the home page and we send you one quote. Step by step: how it works.

03How fast do you confirm, and when is my booking final?

We reply on WhatsApp within two working hours (Monday to Saturday) with availability, swaps if something is out, the final quote and your pickup slot. Sending a request is not a booking: the rental exists once we have confirmed the dates, quote and pickup slot in writing (WhatsApp or email) and you have accepted. The estimate on the website is indicative; the confirmed quote is binding.

04Can I change my list after sending the request?

Yes. Reply in the WhatsApp thread with your reference. We update the quote until the gear is prepped, usually the evening before pickup.

05What is your cancellation policy?

Cancelling more than 48 hours before pickup is free. Between 24 and 48 hours you pay 50 % of the first rental day, and under 24 hours or for a no-show, 100 % of the first day. Crew bookings cancelled under 24 hours are billed a full day, under 48 hours half a day. Details in the rental terms.

02

Prices, deposit and payment

06How are prices shown?

Prices are in Moroccan dirhams (MAD), per rental day, excluding 20 % VAT (HT). A rental day runs from pickup to 12:00 the next day, so if you return before noon, that day is not billed. Every product page also shows the 3-day, weekly and monthly rates and the deposit.

07Are longer rentals and weekends cheaper?

Yes. A Saturday pickup with a Monday return before noon is billed as one day. A 3-day rental is billed 2.5 days, 7 days are billed 5, and 30 days are billed 18. Ready-to-shoot kits are priced below their individual pieces.

08How do I pay? Can I pay online?

Nothing is paid online. You pay in full at pickup (or at delivery), before the gear leaves: cash, card on our CMI terminal (Moroccan and international cards), a bank transfer received beforehand with your reference number, or a company cheque with a signed purchase order for registered companies. We issue the invoice at the counter.

09How much is the deposit, and what ID do I bring?

The deposit is about 30 % of the gear's replacement value; the exact figure is on every product page and in your request. It can be a guarantee cheque (never cashed), a card pre-authorisation or a bank transfer refunded within 5 working days of return, and it is returned when the return condition report is signed. Bring your Moroccan CIN, or a passport plus proof of address if you are visiting. Companies bring the signatory's ID and the company's ICE, and may replace the deposit with a signed purchase order, at our discretion.

03

Pickup and delivery

10Where and when can I pick up the gear?

At our office in Casablanca, 8 Rue Abou Moussa El Jazouli, Monday to Saturday from 09:30 to 18:30; Sunday pickups are by appointment. Pickup or return outside these hours is possible on request, with a 300 MAD surcharge. When stock allows, you can pick up after 14:00 the day before your shoot for free.

11Do you deliver to set?

Yes. Delivery or collection inside Casablanca is a flat 400 MAD per trip. Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir, Ouarzazate and other cities are quoted per job, from 1 500 MAD. A technician can travel with the gear (crew rates apply).

12What happens at pickup and return?

We go through every item together: quantities, serial numbers, a function test and the visible condition, all filmed and signed by both sides. You receive the video and the signed list, and the same happens at return. Allow 15 to 30 minutes for an FX6-type kit, longer for cinema builds.

13What if I return the gear late?

Every started day after the agreed return time is billed as a full day. If you need more time, message us before the return time: an extension is confirmed only if the gear is not booked next. Unannounced late returns that block another client's booking carry a 50 % penalty on each late day.

04

Gear

14What gear can I rent?

Cameras, lenses, lighting, grip, audio, monitoring and wireless video, stabilizers, power and media, DIT and accessories, each listed in the catalog with its day rate. There are also ready-to-shoot kits, tested and cabled before you arrive. Not sure what you need? Describe the job in your request and one of our techs will build the list with you.

15What if something breaks or gets lost on set?

Call us first: we talk you through it or swap the unit the same day in Casablanca. You are responsible for the gear from handover to return; damage is billed at the repairer's quote plus the days the item is out of service (10 at most), and loss at the replacement value shown on the product page. Normal wear is never billed. No rental insurance for audiovisual gear exists in Morocco today, but if your production has its own equipment policy, we note the certificate on the contract.

16Do you rent drones?

No. Civil drone use in Morocco requires a specific government authorisation, so drones are not offered.

17I own gear or a rental house. Can I list it on Gear House?

Yes. We bring the clients, handle the request, the deposit, the paperwork and the handover process, and pay you within seven days of return. There is no listing fee: we earn a commission only when your gear goes out, and you keep your prices, your availability and the right to refuse a job. Become a partner.

05

Crew

18How do I book crew, and how are crew rates billed?

Pick a person on the crew page (gaffers, operators, focus pullers, sound recordists and more) by their showreel, credits and day rate, and add them to the same list as your gear; the booking is final when we confirm the person and the dates on WhatsApp. Rates are per 10-hour day including a one-hour break, excl. VAT: overtime is 1.5 times the hourly rate and a half day (5 hours at most) is 60 %. Transport inside Casablanca is included; outside it, a per diem of 300 MAD a day plus accommodation at cost. If the person becomes unavailable, we propose an equivalent crew member or remove the line at no cost.

19I work on film sets. How do I join the crew?

Create your profile on the join page with your showreel, credits, the gear you bring, your languages and your own day rate, above the role's minimum. Our team reviews every profile before it goes public, producers book you through Gear House, and your phone and email stay private. Joining and being booked is free, with no commission at launch, and Gear House pays the agreed rate within 7 days of the job's end, on invoice.

06

Studios

20Can I book a studio through Gear House?

Yes. The studios page lists cycloramas, sound stages, photo studios and podcast rooms with their size, power, what is included and their rates, by the day, half day or hour, excl. VAT. Add the space to the same request as your crew and gear. It is yours once we confirm the studio and your dates on WhatsApp.

21How do I list my studio?

Fill in the form on List your studio: the venue, then each space you rent separately with its own photos, size and price. We check the details, publish your page, and you manage spaces, rates, photos and blocked days from your studio space. Listing is free at launch, with no commission, and your contact details stay private.

07

Foreign productions and permits

22Do you work with foreign productions?

Yes. We prepare camera, lighting, grip and sound packages for your arrival in Casablanca, or deliver them to Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Tangier or wherever you shoot, with English, French and Arabic-speaking technicians and crew. Company invoices are in MAD (EUR/USD equivalent shown), and export services can be VAT-exempt with the right paperwork. Bringing your own gear? Morocco accepts ATA carnets, and we can top up locally what you don't fly in. More for foreign productions.

23Can you help with shooting permits and the 30 % cash rebate?

Morocco offers a 30 % cash rebate on qualifying spend, and shooting permits and the rebate file must go through a licensed Moroccan production-service company. We work alongside the main ones and can introduce you. We supply the company invoices and documentation your production-service company needs for the CCM cash-rebate file.

08

Accounts and personal data

24Do I need an account to rent?

No. You can always send a request as a guest and follow it on Track a request with your reference (GH-…) and phone number. An optional account fills in your details on every request and keeps your quotes, their status and our messages in one place.

25What do you do with my personal data?

We collect only what the rental needs and never sell it. Data is processed under Moroccan Law 09-08 (and the GDPR for EU residents), ID copies are destroyed after return and settlement, and the site uses no advertising or analytics cookies. Details in the privacy policy.
